Perfectly conditioned real live rock for a creative reef structure.
Freshly collected from the reefs in Sulawesi. Our live rocks are wild-collected stones from nature and are gathered from certified regions. The stones come from inner reefs where they naturally form. No rocks are broken or chipped from the reef.
Our live rocks are exclusively imported with valid CITES papers and by air freight. You will receive no container stock or revitalized rock.
Ideal for new setups of your marine aquarium or for refreshing an existing system, we offer superb plates, large and small chunks, reef branches, and plates. We handpick the most beautiful stones for you - of course, you can also let us know your preferences so that you get exactly the right stones for your reef structure.
Live rocks are large biological filters that, with their surface area and porous structure, provide ample settlement area for cleaning bacteria. Unlike any other filter material, the rocks come with the essential bacteria and their food. Additionally, they naturally serve as decoration for the reef aquarium. Besides bacteria, the natural inhabitants like worms and small crustaceans are crucial as they perform important functions in an aquarium.
Live Rock – perfectly conditioned using the method developed by Fauna Marin Corals
A portion of the life on the rock dies off during transportation. For this reason, all live rocks should be reconditioned before they are placed in our aquariums. Conditioning means preparing the rocks for aquarium life. This is essential in tanks with fish, corals, and other marine animals.
Our conditioned rocks are stored in special tubs under a shower and occasionally turned. This process removes unwanted residues. The showering/spraying drives most bristle worms, crabs, and other unwanted inhabitants out of the rocks. Tube worms, copepods, various larvae, and higher algae are not removed during conditioning. Dead sponges and other dead growths are gently removed by hand.
The spray water is then filtered and cleaned using activated carbon and phosphate absorbers. This prevents phosphate accumulation, which is common in the usual holding process for rocks. As a result, less phosphate enters the system.
