Pterapogon kauderni, also known as Banggai Cardinalfish or Cardinalfish, are popular marine fish species often kept in saltwater aquariums.

In its adult form, this fish reaches a size of about 8 - 10 cm and impresses with a remarkable coloration that combines black, white, gray, and silvery shades. Generally considered easy to care for, it is excellent for breeding in home aquariums.

To ensure the well-being of Banggai Cardinalfish, it is recommended to have an aquarium with a capacity of at least 200 liters, maintaining the water temperature between 24 and 26°C.

Ample hiding places should be provided.

For food, these carnivores thrive on frozen and live foods such as Mysis. Pterapogon Kauderni are peaceful creatures that do not swim around too much and behave peacefully towards other marine fish. However, with age and in larger groups, some aggression towards conspecifics may occur, so group keeping is recommended only for juveniles. Pairwise keeping, on the other hand, is easily achievable and explicitly recommended.
