Maintaining anemones in a saltwater aquarium can be challenging, but with the right care and attention, they can thrive and add beauty to your tank. Here are some general guidelines for keeping anemones in seawater aquaria:

1. Water quality: Anemones are sensitive to changes in water quality, so it's essential to keep the water parameters stable. Test the water regularly with our ICP wateranalysis and maintain proper levels of salinity, pH, and temperature. The salinity should always be between 34/35 per mille, respectively 1.022 and 1.024 density. A regular check of the density is an absolute must in marine aquaristics. Our salt calculator helps to calculate the correct amount of salt. Nevertheless, like all corals, they require clean and clear water. To successfully maintain corals in the long term, stable water and nutrient levels should be aimed for. This can be well controlled with various phosphate adsorbers. With filtration via activated carbon, such as Fauna Marin Carb L long-life carbon, the water remains crystal clear. Phenols, protein compounds, dyes and nettle toxins are filtered out of the water and rendered harmless.  

2. Lighting: Anemones require strong lighting to survive and thrive. Invest in high-quality lighting that provides a full spectrum of light, including blue and violet light, which are essential for their survival. At Fauna Marin Corals we successfully keep our corals under a mix of T5 tubes (50/50 white/blue), in combination with the LED lamps.

3. Feeding: Anemones can survive without feeding for extended periods, but they will grow and thrive better with regular feedings. Offer them a variety of foods, like frozen food, or our liquid food from the Plankton-Series. They also like our pellet/granule food.

4. Placement: Anemones need a stable place to anchor themselves in the aquarium. Ensure that they have a solid surface to attach to, and avoid placing them near strong water currents or in areas with direct water flow.

5. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is crucial for the health of your aquarium and the anemones. Keep the tank clean, and perform regular water changes to keep the water parameters stable. Monitor the anemones for signs of stress or illness, such as closed tentacles or discolored tissue, and address any issues promptly.

Overall, maintaining anemones in a saltwater aquarium requires attention to detail and consistent care. If you provide the right conditions and proper care, you can enjoy the beauty and wonder of these incredible creatures in your own home.

If you provide the right current, good lighting and the right water values, successful keeping with good growth and great colors is feasible in a marine aquarium.

In contrast to small poylp stony corals (SPS), which require rather lower nutrient values, the anemones usually still cope well with higher nutrient values.
Light intensity also affects the coloration and growth of the corals. 

Important for the care of all corals is the constant maintenance of the salinity, as well as the use of a good sea salt, such as Fauna Marin Professional Sea Salt. The salinity should always be between 34/35 per mille, respectively 1.022 and 1.024 density. 

A regular check of the density is an absolute must in marine aquaristics. 

Pay attention - especially in summer - to the temperature in the aquarium. Corals do not tolerate temperatures exceeding 30 degrees for longer periods of time.
