Product information "FMC Caulerpa prolifera"
Caulerpa prolifera - Leafy Caulerpa
Caulerpa are green algae belonging to the family Caulerpaceae. Their exceptional characteristic is that they consist of a single cell with numerous nuclei, making them among the largest single cells in the world. A species found in the Mediterranean can develop a stolon of more than 3 meters in length with up to 200 fronds.
The name "Caulerpa" refers to the creeping habit of their stems and is derived from the ancient Greek words "Kaul" ("stem") and "Herpes" ("creeping").
Caulerpa algae can be invasive but are easily controlled by occasionally removing excess stems.
As a commonly encountered macroalgae, Caulerpa is often introduced into the aquarium through live rock. It is characterized by rapid growth and is easy to control as it does not grow extensively branched. The growth rate can be positively influenced by providing sufficient light.

Crucial for the care of corals and fish is the constant maintenance of salinity and the use of high-quality sea salt, such as Fauna Marin Professional Sea Salt. Salinity should always be between 34/35‰, or 1.022 and 1.024 density. Regular density checks are a must in marine aquariums.
