Highly Efficient Nutrient Control
BACTO REEF BALLS contain highly effective bacterial cultures that control nutrient levels and help avoid unsightly algae growth in saltwater aquariums. This is achieved using our time-controlled carrier material.
Special Composition
The unique composition of our carrier material was specifically developed for use in saltwater environments. It allows a continuous supply of various bacterial cultures to the aquarium. Other materials, like conventional gels, act as an additional carbon source, dissolve faster, and make controlled release impossible.
Ingeniously Simplified Dosing
Bacto Reef Balls are super easy to use. Simply place the necessary amount of Reef Balls into the filter and replace them every 2 weeks once the original ball has dissolved. Our seawater-stable polymer matrix allows bacteria to be released slowly into the aquarium. Continuous supply of beneficial bacteria eliminates the need for daily dosing and avoids unwanted dosage spikes.
Dosage:
- Place 2 BACTO BALLS per 100 liters in a flow-through area of the filter every 2 weeks, ideally in a filter bag or sock.
- Start with half the dosage for the first application.
- For aquariums without skimming technology, reduce the dosage to one-quarter.
- The dosage can be doubled if needed.
Dosing Instructions:
- Ensure that the balls are not placed in the intake area of pumps.
Natural and Reef-Safe
Bacto Balls is the first bacteria-based product with time-release technology in a ball. Both the bacteria and the carrier material are 100% reef-safe and promote a healthy and natural aquarium environment. Once the bacteria are introduced to the aquarium, they begin their work of reducing nitrogen and phosphates. Our bacterial blend is specifically designed for the needs of reef aquariums and provides a stable and diverse bacterial culture. Excess bacteria become a food source for corals and protozoa and are removed by protein skimmers.
Tips:
- Ensure the balls are not placed near a pump intake.
- BACTO BALLS dissolve slowly in contact with water over the next 2-4 weeks. During this time, natural bacteria and a highly effective enzyme solution are released into the water.
- After adding BACTO BALLS, the skimmer's performance may increase significantly. This is the first sign of heightened nutrient breakdown activity. Adjust the amount of BACTO BALLS as needed to suit your aquarium's specific requirements.
- Due to the individuality of aquariums and their inhabitants, a universal dosage recommendation cannot be provided.
- We recommend starting with half the suggested dose and gradually increasing the number of BACTO REEF BALLS until desired levels are achieved. Monitor this regularly through water tests.
